Political Prisoner Zmitser Dashkevich Held In Concrete Cage For Six Months

Political prisoner Zmitser Dashkevich had been held in a punishment cell from July to January in the Zhodzina prison. Now he has been placed in a punishment cell again.

This was reported by his wife, Anastasia Dashkevich.

“Zmitser had been held in a concrete cage in the Zhodzina prison for half a year. All the time, from July till January. Now they transferred him back to the Navasady colony, where they had started a criminal case against him. Now he is in the pre-trial detention center, and complains of horrible cold. He says he has to get up about 8 times during the night to exercise in order to get warm. They are making reports against him for that, because he is supposed to lie still after the call,” the political prisoner’s wife wrote.

Zmitser Dashkevich was detained in April 2022. Together with his wife Nasta, he was accused of participating in a protest on August 23, 2020. On July 14, 2022, Zmitser was sentenced to 1.5 years in a colony, and Nasta was sentenced to 3 years of liberty restriction.

However, in July 2023, Zmitser was not released. He was left behind bars allegedly for malicious disobedience to the demands of the colony administration. In September, Zmitser Dashkevich was given another year of imprisonment under a reinforced regime.
