Large-Scale Protests Break Out In Republic Of Sakha (Yakutia)

Hundreds of people came out to protest in Yakutsk.

Hundreds of people took part in the protest rally on Victory Square in Yakutsk, the capital of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) (the national region of the Russian Federation) after the murder of a local resident, in which an 18-year-old native of Tajikistan with Russian citizenship is suspected.

Protesters, chanting "Urui! Aikhal!"(Leave! Get out!).

"We didn't touch them. So why are they behaving like this," they also said.

Oleg Lebed, deputy chief of police for public order protection, said the suspect had been detained and urged the protesters to disperse.

"The killer has been detained. He is a Russian citizen like you. We caught him, there will be an investigation. Men, why have you gathered?" said the Deputy chief of police.

Earlier it became known that "as a result of a conflict" a young man, a native of Namsky ulus, died, reported the head of Yakutia Aysen Nikolaev.
