BILD: Ukraine’s ‘Underwater Force’ Is Capable Of Sinking Entire Russian Black Sea Fleet

Details of the FURY project have become known.

In recent months, the Ukrainian army has repeatedly successfully attacked the Russian Black Sea Fleet. Now the Ukrainian military wants to dominate the Black Sea with the help of an entire army of underwater drones, reports BILD.

The specialized publication Naval News writes that the Ukrainian side is going to use a project called FURY (“First Ukrainian Robotic Navy”) to deploy underwater drones that can attack ships of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.

The peculiarity of the FURY project is that its authors are not trying to create a completely new underwater drone. The Ukrainian model will be made on the basis of existing Western underwater UAVs.

According to US military analyst H.I. Sutton, underwater drones offer “obvious advantages of surprise, stealth and survivability, and do not require the same technical effort as conventional submarines.”

“The FURY approach is to work with an experienced Western UAV manufacturer and build on existing technology,” Sutton notes.

Converted underwater drones will be able to carry weapons such as mines, torpedoes or even missiles. They can also be equipped with a range of sensors to perform reconnaissance missions.
