On the evening of Tuesday 2 January, the Russian occupying forces again shelled Kharkiv, strong explosions were heard in the city.

The enemy hit the settlement, for the time being it was S-300. As a result of the shelling, civilian infrastructure has been destroyed, Ukrainian media reported.

The mayor of Kharkiv, Ihor Terekhov, and the head of the Kharkiv regional military administration, Oleh Sinegubov, confirmed the attack on Kharkiv. People were urged to go to shelters.

It was later reported that an attack had taken place near a residential building in Kharkiv, shattering windows. "This is another terrorist shelling of Kharkiv and an attempt to intimidate civilians," Terekhov said.

Sinegubov also reported damage to civilian infrastructure, in particular an educational institution. According to him, there is currently no data on casualties.

Monitoring channels wrote that the city had come under fire from S-300 SAMs, and later in the OVA. The AFU air force warned of the threat of ballistic weapons.

Later, Suspilne Kharkiv reported that a school in Kharkiv's Osnovyanskiy district had been destroyed by the Russian missile attack. Part of the two-storey building collapsed.

"A crater about ten metres in diameter appeared at the site of the explosion, and it is filled with water. Rescuers are working at the site. They assume that the missile strike damaged the underground water pipeline", said the message. At least three private homes near the site had their windows shattered.
