On December 31, it became known about the appointment of Bishop Ambrose of Svetlahorsk, Vicar of the Homel Diocese, as the head of the Barysau Diocese, the official portal of the Belarusian Orthodox Church reports.

On December 31, the Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus, Metropolitan Benjamin of Minsk and Zaslaul, co-served by Bishop Ambrose of Barysau and Maryina Horka, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in the city of Barysau. After that, Bishop Ambrose of Barysau and Maryina Horka held the first working meeting with members of the Diocesan Council, Deaners of the Diocese's Church Districts, and other employees.

Recall that in August 2020, His Grace Bishop Benjamin of Barysau and Maryina Horka was appointed Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus, Metropolitan of Minsk and Zaslaul.

He became the first exarch of Belarus – a native of the Belarusian land. At the same time, he was not formally released from the duties of the ruling bishop of the Barysau Diocese.
