Explosions In St. Petersburg: Drones Attack Nevsky Mazut Plant

A drone attacked the Nevsky Mazut plant in the Russian city of St Petersburg this evening.

The sounds of several powerful explosions were heard in St Petersburg tonight. According to eyewitnesses in the Nevsky and Kolpinsky districts, as well as in the centre of the city, the sound made some people's windows shake. It later emerged that the UAV had attacked the Nevsky Mazut plant.

This was reported by the Russian publications Fontanka and Mash on Moika.

The drone was shot down as it flew over Kolpino. According to the publications, the UAV tried to shoot down the S-400 Triumf.

The drone managed to fly to the Nevsky district of St Petersburg and fell on the territory of the Nevsky Mazut plant, damaging several tanks.

The publication adds that the Pulkovo airport introduced the cover plan from 03:53 to 05:11.

According to eyewitnesses, after the drone fell in St. Petersburg on the territory of the Nevsky Mazut plant at Glukhoozerskoye Street, 15, at 9 a.m. the entrances to the enterprise were blocked by special services, and there was smoke and fire on its territory. A drone attacked the plant at around 4.20am.

Fontanka also wrote that residents of St Petersburg were awakened this morning by a powerful explosion heard in various parts of the city.
