Historian: War In Ukraine To End In Collapse

The world is now in 1942.

The events that will take place at the front in 2024 will determine the possible end of the war. The war has become a stalemate - neither side now has sufficient resources and forces for major offensives and breakthroughs.

This opinion was expressed by historian Yaroslav Hrytsak, reports Radio Svaboda. He noted that this is a protracted war, and the solution to this war is the responsibility not only of Ukraine, but also of the West.

"Conditionally speaking, we are now not in 1939, but in 1942. Then there was Stalingrad, that is the beginning of the rollback to the second side. And the question is whether we will lay that foundation. It would be a sin to say that it is only the responsibility of Ukraine, because it is the responsibility of the West. Because this war is protracted, and a protracted war has its own logic," the historian noted.

He emphasised that the front is very important, but in protracted wars the strength of the rear is also very important, and it also determines the further course of the war. Hrytsak noted that the war will ultimately end not with a decisive military victory or military parade.

"Because ultimately the war does not end with a decisive military victory or military parade, but rather with whichever side does not have the strength to carry the burden of the war. And it ends with the collapse of one side," the historian said.

He also added that when Ukraine has access to the resources of the West, the aggressor country Russia does not stand a chance. However, he said that not only Ukraine, but also the West itself should reform.
