The aircraft was destroyed on the territory of the Orenburg-2 military airfield.

On the night of October 13, a Tu-134 military transport plane was burnt down in Russia. The aircraft was destroyed on the territory of the Orenburg-2 military airfield.

Such aircrafts are used by the Russians for flights of senior staff of the Defence Ministry. This was reported by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defence Ministry.

According to Ukrainian intelligence, the aircraft belonged to the 117th military transport air regiment of the Russian Armed Forces. According to open data, this regiment is engaged in servicing military transport vehicles carrying special cargoes for material support of the Russian army. The planes of this regiment are based at the aerodrome in Orenburg.

The video published by the MID shows that the fire broke out in the front part of the military transport aircraft. The fire then spread and engulfed most of the fuselage.

Only the Ministry of Defence continues to operate Tu-134 planes in Russia. At least one other Tu-134 is used by the Ministry of Defence of Belarus. The aircraft is designed for 76-80 passengers for short and medium-haul flights.
