'Even A Cat Won't Survive With These Payments'

It's better not to lose your job in Belarus now.

Aliaksandr Lukashenka signed a number of new laws on October 11. One of them is the law "On Amending Laws on Employment Issues", which should "eliminate dependency and create conditions for employment of the population".

All because of the new law. The period for paying unemployment benefits is now shortened – from 6 to 3 months. This is how the authorities decided to fight "dependency". This news caused a heated discussion on the TikTok page of Charter97.org.

Here are the best comments:

"When you start calling about vacancies – either the experience is not enough, or we don't hire without experience, or too young and with children, or old, or no one is required, and the vacancy is hanging. I wonder, where to work if there is no work?"

"After working at an enterprise for several years, you immediately realize that you need to go abroad."

"The further, the scarier."

"The allowance is only enough for bread, so you don't croak from hunger."

"The payments are nothing."

"Even a cat can't survive on these payments."

"The country is for life, work like Lukashenka said, for a bowl of soup."

"Everything is for the people."

"Who the hell needs these payments, you can't even buy a monthly travel pass with them, they should have cancelled them altogether, there would have been no shame."

"It's funny and sad!!! When will this disgrace end? Do we even consider people as people? Wherever you poke your nose, these people are being oppressed! Do we even have any rights?"

"Give people good jobs with good salaries, not handouts. No one will claim your allowance."

"To be honest, serfdom was better."
