And reports on strengthening the fences.

Polish Minister of Interior and Administration Tomasz Semoniak has announced the positive results of measures to strengthen the border fence. He noted that no cases of migrants breaking the border have been recorded in the areas where the reinforcements have been made. This statement was made after a meeting with the heads of border guards, police and military units involved in the operation ‘Safe Podlasie’.

The Polish side continues to reinforce the fence, adding cross bars to make it more difficult to unclamp the bars, as well as installing additional barbed wire on top of the structure.

In addition, the minister noted that the fight against migrant smugglers continues. More than 500 people have been detained this year, of which more than 100 are under arrest.

Semoniak also accused the Belarusian special services of organising migration pressure. He added that the Polish side continues to put pressure on the Belarusian authorities to resolve the crisis, including with the help of allies. Work on informing the countries of origin of migrants is underway. The Minister reminded that the Polish government had approved the migration strategy, which provides for the temporary suspension of applications for asylum at the border with Belarus from persons who do not meet the criteria for obtaining it.
