Several Russian ‘Shaheds’ Fly Into Belarus

A fighter jet was brought up into the air in Baranavichy.

Several Russian attack drones of the ‘Shahed’ type flew into the territory of Belarus at night, and a fighter jet was brought up into the air in Baranavichy, writes ‘Zerkalo’ with reference to the ‘Belaruski Hayun’ monitoring project and Ukrainian sources.

On the night of October 18, a Shahed drone flew into Belarus, while several other Russian attack drones could have entered the airspace of the country, according to the data of monitoring services of Ukraine.

The ‘Shahed’ that flew in at night was flying over the Palesse Radiation and Ecological Reserve in Homel region. According to Hayun, a duty fighter jet of the Belarusian Air Force was brought up from the airfield in Baranavichy and travelled to the southeast of the country.

One of the drones was flying towards Belarus in the area of the Ukrainian Lyubech (about 25 kilometres from the Belarusan Loyeu), two were flying in in Chernihiv region as well, and two more - in the area of Kamaryn in Bragin district.

The drone activity is apparently related to the launching of attack drones by Russian forces into Ukrainian territory in the evening of 17 October. The attacks continued in the morning of October 18.

The Ukrainian AFU Air Force reported that 135 enemy drones were recorded as of 8.30, 80 of them were shot down.

‘44 Russian drones were locationally lost, two - flew to Belarus, up to 10 enemy UAVs - in the airspace of the central regions of Ukraine,’ reported the Air Force's Telegram channel.
