Russians Shoot 16 Ukrainian POWs Near Pokrovsk

The Ukrainian law enforcers are conducting an investigation.

Russians shot 16 Ukrainian prisoners of war at Pokrovskoye - law enforcers are investigating, the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine has reported.

On October 1, information about the possible shooting of 16 Ukrainian defenders by the military of the Russian Armed Forces appeared on Telegram channels - it was reported that it was footage from the area of the villages of Nikolaevka and Sukhoy Yar in Pokrovsk district.

‘The released video shows AFU military personnel, who had been taken prisoner, coming out of the forest area under enemy control. After they lined up, the occupants deliberately opened fire on them to kill them. The wounded, who showed signs of life, were killed at point-blank range with a machine-gun,’ the Office of the Prosecutor General wrote.

Prosecutor General Andrei Kostin said that this is the most numerous known case of the death penalty of Ukrainian POWs on the front line, and is further evidence that the killing and torture of prisoners by the Russian Federation is a deliberate policy of its military and political leadership.

Law enforcers are verifying the video, and investigative and search operations have been launched to establish all the circumstances.

The maximum possible punishment is life imprisonment.
