‘All Options On Table’: Israel Could Strike Iran's Nuclear Facilities

The media have learnt what would be the probable targets.

Israel is preparing a ‘significant response’ to Iran's massive missile attack on Tuesday, October 1, within days, the targets could include oil production and other strategic sites, Axios reported, citing sources.

Israeli officials interviewed by the publication said that if Iran attacks again, ‘all options will be on the table,’ including strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities.

‘It's a big question how the Iranians are going to respond to the attack, but we are taking into account the possibility that they will go all-in, and that would be a totally different game,’ an Israeli official said.

Numerous Israeli officials believe oil facilities would be the likely target, but some say targeted assassinations and disabling Iran's air defences are also possible.

In addition, Israel's response could include airstrikes as well as covert operations like the one that killed Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran two months ago.

Axios reminded that Israel responded to Iran's last missile and drone attack in April with a very limited strike against a battery of S-300s in Iran, which ended the exchange of strikes. This time, however, the response will be ‘much more significant,’ according to Israeli officials.

The Israeli defence official also told Axios that dozens of Iranian missiles were fired at the Mossad headquarters during Iran's massive attack, but none of them made it inside the compound.

Two Israeli officials reported at a cabinet meeting that was convened after the Iranian attack that no decision had been made on what exactly that response would be.

A senior Israeli official told Axios that one of the reasons the decision was not made at the meeting was that Israeli officials wanted to consult with US President Joe Biden's administration.

Another Iranian attack in response to Israeli retaliation would require defence cooperation with US Central Command, more ammunition for the Israeli air force and possibly other operational support, the official said.

The U.S. official said that during talks between the Biden administration and the Israeli government on Tuesday, the U.S. made it clear that it supports the Israeli response but believes it should be well considered.
