Austin: Moscow Not To Win In Ukraine
LLOYD AUSTIN

Ukraine belongs to the Ukrainian people.

US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin, speaking at the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry's Diplomatic Academy in Kyiv on October 21, warned that Ukraine will face difficult challenges in the coming days. Ukrinform reports that.

‘Ukraine will face complex challenges in the coming days. And as Vice President [Joe] Biden said at this academy in 2014, democracy is not a destination. Democracy is a road, a very hard road... Ukraine has chosen the course of courage, we have chosen the course of courage too. My friends, you are walking a hard road, but you are not walking it alone,’ said the head of the Pentagon.

At the same time, according to Interfax-Ukraine, Austin said that ‘one should never underestimate the power of a democracy defending itself.’

The Pentagon chief added that Vladimir Putin thinks as if he will win this war - ‘and he is wrong.’

‘The United States will give Ukraine what it needs to fight for survival and security. Ukraine does not belong to Russia and Putin. Ukraine belongs to the Ukrainian people. And Moscow will never win in Ukraine,’ Austin emphasised.

He also said it is unacceptable to let Putin do whatever he wants, because this, according to Austin, will doom the next generations ‘to live in a much bloodier and more dangerous world.’

‘We should all realise that Putin's attack is a warning. It is a teaser to a world built by tyrants and thugs. A chaotic world of violence divided into spheres of influence. A world where bullies trample on their lesser neighbours. And a world where aggressors force free people to live in fear,’ the Pentagon chief added.
