Actor and TV presenter Aliaksandr Zhdanovich, best known as Maliavanych from ‘Kalykhanka’, told ‘Nasha Niva’ details of his sad adventures with scammers.

Everything happened in the evening on Friday: on October 18, Aliaksandr was supposed to hold an evening of batleika at the Belarusian Youth Hub in Warsaw. He was in a great hurry, as he saw that he was already late. He didn't want the audience to wait. His mind was only focused on how to be on time for his own performance. This just played into the hands of fraudsters who called the actor at the most inconvenient moment for him.

The story was a classic: ‘bank employees’ reported that there had been an attempt to withdraw money from his account. In order to protect it is necessary to give information about this and that... Then the banking account was blocked.

‘The scammers were speaking in Ukrainian at first. When I said that I didn't know it well, they switched to Russian. Obviously, a lot of things should have alerted me. But these ‘artists’ bought me by giving me some data that I thought only real employees of the bank could know. In general, as a professional I can say: it was played perfectly’.

When Aliaksandr realised what had really happened, he blocked the card. On Monday he came to the bank, where he was told that there was almost nothing left on his foreign currency account out of 3 thousand euros. It is impossible to return the money.

‘As a result, the account is blocked. They advised me to reset the phone to its initial settings and install an anti-virus’.
