Military Who Escaped From DPRK Want To Go To Ukraine

As ‘agents of psychological warfare’.

A group of nearly 200 North Koreans who escaped from the country and live in South Korea want to go to Ukraine to start ‘psychological warfare’ against their former comrades.

This is reported by the South China Morning Post.

According to the publication, drawing on their military past, this group of former soldiers aims to use their insider knowledge of the North Korean army to disorganise and demoralise the troops sent to fight in Ukraine.

‘We are all military veterans who understand North Korea's military culture and psychological state better than anyone else,’ said Ahn Chang-il, a 69-year-old defector and member of the group.

He also emphasised that the former DPRK soldiers are ready to be transferred to Ukraine.

‘We are ready to go wherever necessary to work as agents of psychological warfare - through loudspeakers, distributing leaflets and even acting as translators,’ he said.

Another key figure in the initiative, Lee Min-bok, made his request directly to the Ukrainian government. He published an open letter to the Ukrainian embassy in Seoul, asking President Volodymyr Zelensky for permission to help rescue North Korean soldiers, whom he called ‘cannon fodder.’
