Free Choir Gathered Full House In Białystok

The concert was dedicated to the "Night of the Shot Poets".

On October 29, in memory of the "Night of the Murdered Poets of 1937", the Belarusian "Free Choir" from Warsaw performed a special program of works by repressed Belarusian authors in Białystok. The concert was held in a significant place – the Sybir Memorial Museum – which barely accommodated the audience.

During the concert, among other things, works based on the poems of the poets killed on October 29, 1937, and those repressed at that time were performed: Ales Dudar, Tishka Hartny, Mikhas Charot. For the first time at the concert, the first unofficial anthem of Belarus of the early 20th century - "Belarusian Marseillaise" was performed, writes Radio Racyja.

"You can feel that this is our city, that everything is in place here, and we are at home here. For me and for many, Białystok is very familiar. The Sibir Memory Museum is a very suitable place. Both a place of memory and a place associated with repressions. On this day, it was especially important to hold a concert here," said the choir's chief Halina Kazimirauskaia.
