Forbes: Putin's ‘Invincible’ T-90 Tanks Turned Out To Be Not So Formidable

Even three-tier armor does not protect them from strikes by Ukrainian drones.

According to Putin, the T-90M tanks are the best in the world, but even they are powerless against drones. Experts write that the frontal armor of the tank is a high-tech sandwich of metal, ceramics and composite materials. Such protection is effective only during tank battles, but is powerless against drones, Forbes reports.

Russian media have repeatedly said that the T-90 tanks are equipped with an active protection system called Arena, which is supposed to shoot down drones. However, no one has seen it yet. From the very beginning of the war, the occupiers decided to install protective screens on the roof and frame. In the latest version, the T-90 received screens on the roof, including an additional one, with three-layer protection.

However, tanks are powerless against drones and mines. In the video, you can see how a drone attacked an abandoned tank. It is also clear that its right track was torn off. This means that mines also play an important role in destroying enemy armored vehicles.

An experienced FPV drone pilot can easily destroy any armored vehicle. Usually, strikes are carried out in places where ammunition is stored in the tank.
