NYT: Iran Asks Russia For Satellite Intelligence Ahead Of Expected Israeli Strike

Tehran has sent a request to Moscow.

On October 2, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian went to a conference of Islamic organizations in Qatar, where he said that the country does not seek war, since there are “no winners.” However, the politician warned that Iran will respond more strongly “if Israel makes even the slightest mistake.” This is reported by The New York Times.

The article says that amid the escalation of the conflict, Iran has sent a request to Russia for help in providing satellite intelligence to prepare for a possible Israeli strike.

In addition, Tehran and Washington have exchanged messages through an intermediary in Iran, although little is known about the content of these talks. Iran also said that any country that supports Israel in a military response will be a legitimate target for attack.

Amid these statements, some Iranian analysts and sociologists are expressing concern about the possible development of the conflict. Prominent sociologist Hamidreza Jalaipour noted that if war breaks out, most Iranians are likely to unite in support of their country despite internal divisions. However, he said, the situation could hit the country hard, both militarily and economically.
