Belarusian Volunteer Convicted In Absentia In ‘DPR’

The so-called “DPR” convicted Belarusian volunteer Yan Dziurbeika in absentia. This was reported on the website of the Russian Prosecutor General's Office.

Dziurbeika's case was heard by a court in the territory of the Donetsk region of Ukraine occupied by the Russian Federation. He was found guilty under Part 3 of Article 359 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (participation in an armed conflict as a mercenary). He was sentenced to 14 years of imprisonment in a strict regime penal colony.

Yan Dziurbeika fought for Ukraine in the ranks of the Kalinouski Regiment. He was taken prisoner in June 2022 during the fighting in Lysychansk. It was known that he had been included in the exchange lists.
