What preceded it
The Israeli air force has carried out airstrikes on the capital of Lebanon several times recently. During such attacks, the IDF destroyed high-ranking Hezbollah militants.
In particular, Israel managed to kill Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah on September 27. At that time, the air force struck the group's central headquarters, which was located underground under a residential building in the Dahiya district of Beirut. At the same time, during the strike on Beirut on September 20, Israeli soldiers eliminated the head of Hezbollah's Operational Unit and the commander of the elite Radwan forces, Ibrahim Aqil.
