Ukrainian Fighters Drive Enemy Back, Free Their Prisoners

Ukrainian fighters have driven the enemy back and freed their captives.

Soldiers of the AFU's 3rd separate assault brigade have recaptured positions from the Russian army and rescued four Ukrainian servicemen from Russian captivity. This is reported by the press services of the brigade and Kreminna tactical group.

It is reported that while moving between positions on the battle line in the Lyman direction, four Ukrainian servicemen were ambushed by an enemy sabotage group of up to 10 people.

The servicemen who were taken by surprise were incapable of offering effective resistance, so the Russians captured them and brought them under the cover of a forest belt to their positions.

Soldiers of the 3rd Assault Force noticed suspicious movement near the line of battle through the UAV camera and found out that a group of soldiers attached to the brigade had not reached their destination point, and there was no communication with them. It took a few minutes to find out the reasons, the UAV operator spotted the movement of the enemy sabotage group in a gap of greenery and reported it to the commander.

Operation Progress

The commander of one of the battalions of the 3rd Assault instantly assessed the situation and gave the order for a quick reaction team to move out to destroy the sabotage group and rescue the prisoners.

The soldiers immediately loaded into an M113 armoured personnel carrier and moved out to intercept the Russians. They caught up with them as they were approaching their positions.

The soldiers of the Third Assault immediately attacked, holding the enemy at bay with assault fire. Leaving the prisoners behind, the enemy was forced to shoot back. During the fire contact, the prisoners managed to escape and within a day they returned to the Ukrainian positions by themselves. The enemy was thrown back and the position of the AFU on this section of the front was restored.

‘The outcome of the battle was a result of the combined fire support of the battalion and brigade, as well as the personal courage and bravery of the 3rd SABr's personnel,’ the tactical unit said.

The Ukrainian servicemen destroyed a sabotage group of Russian occupants, damaged and destroyed an enemy fortification, creating prerequisites for further success in this area.
