YouTube Removes Video Of Belarusian State TV Channel

For copyright violation.

On October 7, the sports programme of ‘Arena’ was aired on the First Informational state TV channel (it is a recently launched channel, where propagandists promised the concept of ‘multi-hour news broadcasting in brand new studios’). You can still find the video on the channel's website. It was also available on YouTube, but then the video hosting removed it, writes Zerkalo.

‘The video is not available. It contains materials from the partner of UEFA, which blocked their display due to copyright violation,' the YouTube website says in place of the video with the release of Arena, which was published on October 7.

‘Arena’ tells about the most significant sporting events of the past week. At the beginning of the last issue of the programme of ‘First Informational,’ there was a story about the defeat of Minsk ‘Dynama’ at the start of the football Conference League by Scottish ‘Harts’ (1:2). The video also contains footage directly from the match, which took place on October 3 - all the goals scored are shown.

Apparently, this did not please UEFA - ‘First Informational’ simply ‘borrowed’ the picture, although it had no rights to show the match. Belarusian television in general is famous for ‘pirate’ broadcasts - for example, two years in a row ‘Belarus 5’ showed the tennis finals of the Australian Open with the participation of Aryna Sabalenka.

However, let's return to the current case. The match between Dynama and Harts was shown by STV TV channel in Belarus. On October 1, Siarhei Tulupau, head of the sports broadcasting department of the channel, confirmed that CJSC ‘Capital Television’ was the official broadcaster of the games of Minsk Dynama in the Conference League.

However, the official UEFA website lists another broadcaster in our country. We are talking about the Okko online cinema, the work of which was temporarily suspended in Belarus on October 1. However, as Tochka.by wrote, Okko sports broadcasts (the online cinema also shows Champions League and Europa League matches) are limited to the territory of the Russian Federation.
