Evacuation Starts In Two Settlements Of Belgorod Region

What's going on?

The evacuation of two villages Petrovka and Solovyevka was announced in Belgorod region of Russia. These settlements are located near the border with Kharkiv region of Ukraine, reports ‘Obozrevatel’.

Russian Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov reported on the taken security measures at a meeting of the operational headquarters on Tuesday, October 8. The Kremlin aide said on his Telegram channel that the villages ‘are closed for entry and the procedure of resettlement begins’.

He assured that the residents would be provided with other housing, but did not specify the details. Gladkov cited ‘frequent shelling’ as the reason for the decision.

In 2010, 413 people lived in Petrovka, while in Solovyevka - only 46.

According to the head of Belgorod district, Anna Kutashova, almost all residents of these villages have already left their homes. According to her data, less than 30 people remained in Petrovka as of the beginning of October.
