Former CEO Of Neman Glass Factory Sentenced To 12 Years In Prison For ‘Treason’

It is unknown what exactly Batsian was accused of.

The Hrodna Regional Court sentenced former director of the Neman glass factory Ihar Batsian to 12 years in prison for “treason” (Part 1 of Article 356 of the Criminal Code), reports “Haradzenskaya Pravaabarona”.

It is unknown what exactly the former director of the glass factory was accused of.

Ihar Batsian is 60 years old, he headed the Neman glass factory for more than 12 years. In 2009, the State Control Committee opened a criminal case against Batsian for the poor performance of the factory, but the case did not reach the court. In 2014, state media wrote that Batsian would be “financially responsible” for the failure of the project to open glass wool production at the Neman plant.

In 2017, Batsian left his position as plant director and went into hockey — he headed the department of children's and youth hockey and development of the Belarusian Hockey Federation.

In 2020, Batsian did not show himself publicly. His VKontakte page is subscribed to Russian state media.
