About 1,000 terrorists have been eliminated and almost as many captured.
The Chief of the General Staff of the Israel Defence Forces, Lieutenant General Herzi Ha-Levi, assessed the situation in the Gaza Strip and reported on the results of the operation against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.
This was reported by the Israel Defence Forces (IDF).
The Chief of Staff noted that over the past three weeks of fighting in the Jabalya area of the Gaza Strip, the IDF has eliminated about 1,000 terrorists and captured almost as many, which has caused serious damage to the Hamas group.
"We stand by our civilians and soldiers who are being held hostage and are ready to fight with great determination and pay any price to bring them home," he said.
Analyzing the situation in Lebanon, Ha-Levi noted that the 769th Brigade, under the command of the 91st Division, is conducting limited, localized, targeted ground raids based on precise intelligence in several villages in the south of the country near the border with Israel.
According to him, to date, the troops have eliminated about 300 terrorist infrastructure sites, destroyed terrorists, discovered underground infrastructure, numerous weapons and ammunition depots, including tactical combat equipment, intelligence documents, Kornet missiles and RPGs.
"In addition, during a targeted raid on an arms depot on the outskirts of a village in southern Lebanon, the military discovered a mobile missile system ready to launch, containing 24 missiles aimed at populated areas in the Galilee Valley. The missile launcher was hidden in a dense forest and connected to a civilian structure," Ha-Levi said.
He added that the weapons were confiscated and delivered to Israel.
