Details of the conversation have become known.

Donald Trump had his first phone conversation with Vladimir Putin after his election victory, The Washington Post reports.

According to the Post's source, during the conversation Trump ‘advised the Russian president not to escalate the war in Ukraine’ and we reminded of the significant US military presence in Europe.

The conversation also discussed issues related to peace on the European continent. Trump expressed his willingness for further talks to discuss ‘an early resolution to the war in Ukraine.’

The previously unreported call came amid general uncertainty about how Trump will reset the world diplomatic board of US allies and adversaries after his decisive victory on Tuesday.
