Ukrainians cannot inspect the damage to the dam because of constant shelling.
Water continues to arrive downstream from the Ternivska dam of the Kurakhove reservoir in Ukraine, which was destroyed by Russian occupants on November 11.
This was reported by the head of the Kurakhove town military administration Roman Padun on the air of ‘Suspilne Novini’ on Tuesday, November 12.
He noted that it has not yet been possible to inspect the damage to the dam due to constant Russian shelling.
‘So we have not managed to go out and make an inspection of this dam. Water continues to arrive below the Ternivska dam. I've been in touch with colleagues. There is no critical situation, there are no flooded houses yet,’ the MVA chief said.
Padun noted that Russian troops have been trying to hit the dam with guided aerial bombs for three months.
Despite the destruction, he said, all the water cannot flow out of the reservoir.
‘The dam is so constructed that the entire mirror of the reservoir cannot drain. There is a critical level of the reservoir that can drain and there is the level that remains,’ Padun emphasised.
