The opposition believes that the elections were ‘stolen’ by a pro-Russian oligarch.
Deputies of the Georgian opposition coalition ‘Unity - National Movement’ refused their mandates because they do not recognise the legitimacy of the Parliament. This was announced by the leader of the National Movement party Tina Bokuchava, Georgian edition SOVA reported on Tuesday, November 13.
It is noted that the coalition For Change also refused its parliamentary mandates.
The opposition believes that the elections were ‘stolen’ by pro-Russian oligarch Bidzina Ivanishvili, and that the voting results were falsified, the paper said.
Opposition politicians demand that not a single person who is on the parliamentary electoral list of Unity-National Movement be given a temporary mandate.
‘We refuse to receive mandates based on the results of the parliamentary elections, where total falsifications took place, where the most important principle of the Constitution in the form of preserving the secrecy of the vote was violated and, therefore, the free will of the Georgian people was not expressed,’ Bokuchava said.
She also noted that representatives of the parliaments of eight EU countries do not recognise the legitimacy of the elections and declare the need to investigate the facts of falsifications.
