It can reach Moscow, St Petersburg and other major Russian cities.
According to Ukrainian experts, Ukraine may receive a ballistic missile with a range of 1,000 kilometres as early as 2025.
It could potentially reach Moscow, St Petersburg, Samara, Astrakhan and other major Russian cities.
This is stated in an article by The Times.
Journalists refer to a report that was submitted to the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
This document, on behalf of Valentin Badrak, director of the Ukrainian Centre for Army, Conversion and Disarmament Studies, states the country's ability to restore its nuclear capability within a couple of months.
However, there is another interesting point in the article - a reference to the development of Ukrainian ballistics.
Badrak announces the demonstration of Ukrainian-made missiles with a range of 1,000 kilometres within the next six months.
The appearance of the Ukrainian armed forces' own ballistics could become a critical factor in the war.
Ukraine would be able to use them to strike at Russia's rear military facilities without having to beg for approval for such attacks from its Western allies.
Israeli military observer Yigal Levin sees this point in the article as more important than nuclear weapons.
‘What's interesting in that article from The Times is the statement by Valentin Badrak, (...) that within six months Ukraine will demonstrate its ballistic missiles with a range of 1,000 kilometres. Now that's much more interesting. I won't even be surprised that Kyiv transmitted these statements through The Times for this very purpose - literally for the sake of this line,’ the military officer wrote.
It should be noted that rumours about the imminent appearance of Ukraine's own ballistics began to circulate actively in the autumn of 2024.
The head of ‘Spetstechnoexport’ Oleksiy Petrov predicted their production by the middle of 2025. Interesting announcements on this subject were also heard in the Verkhovna Rada. The details are still being kept secret.
