The negotiation process has stopped.
Negotiations between the opposition and the “authorities” in Abkhazia have been stopped because “President” Aslan Bzhania has escaped, protest leader Livan Mikaa said, RBC reports with a reference to “D News Abkhazia”.
“The negotiation process has been stopped because the president has fled. We cannot find those people who can tell us where, in what direction,” he said.
According to Mikaa, Bzhania may be on the territory of a Russian military base. The press service of the “head of the republic” reported that he was in his native village of Tamysh, located approximately 40 km from the capital on the road to Georgia, and denied that Bzhania had left for a Russian military base.
The oppositionist added that if the “president” does not get in touch by the morning, the issue of his resignation will be considered by the “parliament”.
On the afternoon of November 15, rallies began outside the building of the Abkhaz “parliament” demanding the rejection of the bill on ratification of the investment agreement with Russia and Bzhania's resignation.
The protesters stormed the “parliament” building, they occupied the complex of government buildings. The opposition created a coordination council, and negotiations with Bzhania began.
