Drones have reached the capital of Udmurtia.
Drones have attacked the Kupol Electromechanical Plant in Russian Izhevsk. Tor missile systems and radars are manufactured there.
This was reported by Andriy Kovalenko, Head of the Center for Countering Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council, on Telegram.
Local public groups reported explosions in Izhevsk on the night of November 17. Local residents also posted footage of explosions and a possible hit to the enterprise.
According to the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, the Izhevsk Electromechanical Plant Kupol was hit.
Kovalenko notes that the Russian plant produces Tor missile systems, radar stations, and other components.
We should add that the city of Izhevsk is the capital of Russian Udmurtia in the central part of the Russian Federation. The city is known for its military, mechanical engineering and metallurgy industries. The AK-47 assault rifle is manufactured there.
It is known that the Kupol plant is one of the largest defense enterprises in Russia. In addition to the Tor air defense missile system, the Saman-M1 and Adjutant target training systems are also manufactured there. The plant also manufactures gyroscopes, nanocomposites, equipment for nuclear power plants, oil production, and conveyor lines for distilleries.
In September 2024, it was reported that the Kupol plant had begun production of the new long-range strike drone Harpia-A1. The drone is based on a Chinese engine.
