Russian officials in the regions bordering Ukraine are considering evacuation their relatives "somewhere from there" after reports that the United States, France and Great Britain allowed Kyiv to fire long-range missiles deep into Russia, sources in regional administrations told Verstka.
According to the publication, the most active reaction was in the Voronezh region - a region bordering Ukraine, but not as badly affected as the Belgorod and Kursk regions. One of the local officials said that this was "completely crazy" - "we need to pack our things and take our relatives somewhere far away."
The officials also began to study "maps with the radius of missile strikes" and potential targets for attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). Among them are the Baltimore airfield on the southwestern outskirts of Voronezh and large local industrial enterprises. However, one of the local officials noted in a conversation with Verstka that Baltimore had long been a target for Ukrainian drones, and important equipment had already been redeployed from the airfield. In turn, industrial facilities within the city of a million people “do not directly work” for the military and are “well covered” by air defence. “Who would spend expensive missiles on such targets?” the source asked the publication. At the same time, in the Belgorod and Kursk regions, the mood of the authorities is more peaceful. “We need to take care of our state of mind, they will come in handy,” a source familiar with the situation explained to Verstka.
