He is hardly provided with medical care.
Political prisoner Mikalai Autukhovich said that he spent 21 days in the punishment cell. Avtukhovich did not specify the reasons for the punishment. As it became known to ‘Radio Svaboda,’ the political prisoner feels bad and worries for his life.
On November 18, Mikalai Autukhovich, sentenced to 25 years in Hrodna prison, got in touch with his relatives after more than a month of silence. The political prisoner said that he had spent 21 days in the punishment cell, where he was only occasionally provided with medical care, despite the presence of chronic diseases.
‘The conversation on the phone was short. He managed to say that he was feeling ‘not so great’, as he had spent 21 days in a ‘sanatorium.’ This is what prisoners call the punishment cell. He also managed to say that it was very cold there, because the heating in the cell had been repaired only at the end of his sentence. At night, he said it was a ‘catastrophe’ at all, it was so cold,' said the source, referring to Mikalai Autukhovich's relatives.
According to him, Mikalai Autukhovich complained about the lack of medical care.
‘He has chronic hypertension, he needs to control his blood pressure regularly.’ Yet he said that they had taken away the tonometer, although he had permission to use it. Also, a doctor was not regularly called to him when he asked for help. He said that only one out of five times was he called. As usual, he didn't talk much about his health, but this time he said that ‘if anything happened to him, it had been done on purpose.’
According to the source, Mikalai Autukhovich's legs get swollen, and the political prisoner also suffers from a joint disease.
‘He is going to complain about the conditions of detention in the punishment cell and the lack of medical care,’ the source said.
We remind you, on October 17, 2022, Hrodna Regional Court announced the verdict on ‘Autukhovich's case’, which involves 12 people. The court sessions were held in prison No. 1 in Hrodna.
