More than a thousand occupiers fled from the front.
More than a thousand occupiers from the 20th Motorized Rifle Division of the aggressor country Russia deserted from the war against Ukraine.
In the spring of 2024, the authorities of Russian regions received a letter from the command of the 20th Guards Motorized Rifle Division asking for help in finding the soldiers who had fled from the front, the publication "Important Stories" wrote on Tuesday, November 19.
The list prepared by the command and to which journalists gained access included more than a thousand servicemen of the division. Among them are contract soldiers, mobilized soldiers and conscripts.
As journalists note, the list that came into their possession "shows the true scale of flight from the Russian army during the war" against Ukraine.
"More than a thousand people have fled from just one division, and in total, at least two dozen divisions are participating in the war against Ukraine (the exact data is classified)," the publication notes.
The document contains the names, dates of birth, ranks and other data of 858 contract soldiers, 150 mobilized soldiers and two conscripts. Among them are 26 junior officers, a major and two lieutenant colonels.
Most of the occupiers who left their units without permission and whose cases end up in court do not try to hide and return to live at their registered address.
