Storm Shadow Strike Near Kursk: 'Highly Respected' Generals Were There

An expert tells who the Ukrainian forces could have hit.

The defeat of the Russian command during the attack of the Ukrainian Defence Forces with Storm Shadow missiles on the Kursk region is only an assumption that can be explained by facts. This was stated on air by Oleh Katkov, the Editor-in-Chief of the military-analytical publication Defense Express, on Radio NV.

"This is not just something to slap on somewhere. This is a large-scale operation, using a significant number of various weapons. I have no doubt that even 12 Storm Shadow missiles could have been launched. But there are more than 15 explosions on the video [which appeared online]. And the person did not start filming it right away," Katkov said.

The expert also explained why we are talking specifically about the defeat of an in-depth command post, and not individual buildings on the territory of the facility.

"There is information that it is in the area of this sanatorium that there is a so-called communications hub. And I guarantee, taking everything into account - on the territory of the facility, which is guarded by the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation. There can't be some basement with two warrant officers hugging a telegraph. It's deep, there's a satellite image, there aren't many buildings there," Katkov explained.

Another sign that a command post was located in this place is a drone video showing missiles hitting the same spot, the expert says.

"They break through the earth to hit what's underneath. Considering the class of the facility, a sanatorium that is subordinate to the Kremlin, we're talking about a very important command post. Considering that this is the Kursk region, who could be there from an efficiency standpoint? Obviously, there were very respected generals there who were spending the night in the sanatorium," Katkov noted.

He also added that there could also have been commanders of the North Korean troops in this shelter, who arrived with the DPRK army in the Kursk region.
