Ukraine is fighting not only for its own freedom, but also for the freedom of the whole Europe.
On Wednesday, November 27, Vilnius City Council adopted a resolution supporting Ukraine, in which called on the capital of other NATO member States to similar support.
According to ‘European Truth’, this was reported in the Vilnius City Council.
The adopted resolution entitled ‘Vilnius - with Ukraine to Victory’ notes that Ukraine is fighting not only for its own freedom, but also for the freedom of the whole of Europe, and that the outcome of the war largely depends on the support of Western partners.
The document condemns Russia's full-scale aggression against Ukraine and declares support for Ukraine's ‘Victory Plan’ and ‘peace formula’ as the basis for a sustainable and just peace.
The Lithuanian capital also pledges to continue to provide political, moral and material support to Ukraine, in particular to its municipalities, as it has done so far, as well as to maintain a separate support line in the Vilnius city budget.
Vilnius will send the signed resolution to the capitals of the European Union and NATO countries, as well as to Vilnius' partner cities in these countries, the City Council said.
They noted that only in 2024, Vilnius' support for Ukraine will exceed 1.1 million euros. The majority of them - 700 thousand euros - will be given to Dnipro, Kharkiv and the town of Dergachy in Kharkiv region, as well as the Ce Tu charity organisation, which provides assistance to war victims and those who have lost their permanent housing.
In separate decisions, the Vilnius City Council extended for another year the possibility for Ukrainians who fled the war to travel free of charge by the capital's public transport.
Also on Wednesday, the Lithuanian government allocated 5m euros for installing solar power plants in Ukraine.
