Drone Attack On Tula Region In Russia: Important Defence Plant Targeted

There were more than a dozen explosions.

Explosions were heard in the Russian Tula region on the night of November 9. The UAV attack is reported, according to eyewitnesses, there were more than a dozen of them.

Obozrevatel writes that the likely target of the attack could be a chemical plant in the city of Aleksin. The company, which works for the Russian army, produces ammunition.

"UAVs have been attacking Aleksin of the Tula region all night long, residents have counted at least 11 drones. Local authorities have not yet commented on the situation," the Russian independent publication ASTRA reported at about 5 a.m. Kyiv time.

Russian air defence was operating in the Aleksin area. Residents posted videos of explosions on the network.

"Presumably, the drones' target was a local chemical plant," the VCheK-OGPU Telegram channel notes.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defence, 50 Ukrainian drones were "destroyed" over the territory of the Russian Federation during the night. Most of all – over the Bryansk region, where allegedly managed to shoot down 28 UAVs. Over the Kursk region, according to the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation, 12 drones were "destroyed", over the Novgorod region – four, over the Smolensk and Tula regions – two, and over the Orel and Tver regions – one UAV each.

According to official information, the federal state-owned enterprise Aleksinsky Chemical Combine specializes in the production of polymer and composite materials, and it also performs work in the field of capital construction, liquidation of hazardous facilities, and reclamation of territories.

On July 20, 2023, Aleksinsky Chemical Combine came under US sanctions, as it produced ammunition, "as well as polymers, paint materials and composite materials for the Russian defence industry."

And on February 23, 2024, the plant was included in the sanctions list of the EU countries due to the fact that it "supplies products to state-owned enterprises for the production of gunpowder, ammunition and ammunition for the armed forces of the Russian Federation."

In 2023, Russian media reported the Russian government's plans to include this enterprise in the Rostec state corporation.
