New EU Sanctions List: Who In Belarus Is Included

The European Union has imposed sanctions against 26 individuals and two companies from Belarus.

On December 16, the EU Council added new individuals and companies from Belarus to the sanctions lists, Nasha Niva reports.

The sanctions include the logistics operator VLATE Logistics LLC, which owns the Bruzgi and Berastavitsa transport and logistics centers, as well as the Ruzekspeditsiya company, which “benefit[s] from the regime and facilitates the circumvention of EU sanctions by participating in the supply of cars, the sale of which from the EU to Belarus is prohibited.”

The sanctions list also includes judges responsible for fabricating politically motivated sentences:

Vera Filonik — judge of the Brest Regional Court;

Iryna Pradun — judge and chairperson of the Rahachou District Court of the Homel Region;

Vital Sinila — judge and chairman of the Masty District Court of the Hrodna Region;

Vadzim Mazol — judge of the Pruzhany District Court of the Brest Region;

Nina Shastak — judge of the Brest Regional Court;

Iryna Mayka — judge of the Minsk Regional Court;

Vasil Biahun — judge of the Homel Regional Court;

Yauhen Brahan — judge of the Brest Regional Court;

Aliaksandr Mokharau — judge of the Savetski District Court of Homel;

Alesia Osipava — judge of the Central District Court of Homel;

Viktar Novik — chairman of the Zhabinka District Court.

The sanctions lists include persons responsible for torture in places of detention and inhuman treatment of illegally detained persons. They are:

Vadzim Murashka — head of penal colony #13 in Hlybokaye;

Siarhei Biareyshyk — employee of pretrial detention center #1;

Mikalai Mushkarou — employee of pretrial detention center #1;

Siarhei Petrakovich — head of penal colony #9 in Horki;

Viktar Lutsau — head of the medical unit of prison #1 in Hrodna.
