Strong Wind Massively Felling Trees In Belarus

Fifty-four settlements have been affected.
Dozens of settlements in Belarus were affected by strong wind on December 16, reported the Ministry of Emergency Situations. Fifty trees and five Christmas trees fell down.
Due to the strong wind, 54 settlements were affected. Most of them are in Brest (34) and Hrodna (16) regions.
The roofs of 79 agricultural buildings, 21 residential houses, one farm building and one social and cultural facility were damaged.
‘As a result of the destruction of the agricultural building of the cowshed in the village of Vauchki, Slonim district, Hrodna region, five cows were killed, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the farm rescued 44 cows,’ the agency said.
There were 50 cases of fallen trees in Brest (24), Vitsebsk (1), Homel (2), Hrodna (19) and Minsk (2) regions and in Minsk (2).
Five Christmas trees fell down in Kalinkavichi, Hrodna (3) and Zaslauye. There were no casualties. Workers of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and other organisations carried out sawing and removal of fallen trees.
Power supply was restored in 72 settlements on Monday, December 16. In the evening, the Ministry of Energy reported that ‘voltage was supplied to all consumers of the republic’. For this purpose 127 operational and mobile teams were working.
