The Armed Forces of Ukraine are conducting "pinning down operations".
The Russian counteroffensive in the Kursk region is failing, while the Ukrainian Armed Forces have captured dozens of Russians and eliminated a lot of enemy personnel and equipment. Military expert, pilot instructor and retired AFU colonel Roman Svitan commented to 24 Channel.
According to him, in this direction the task of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is conducting "pinning down" operations that force the enemy to attack, as a result of which the Russians are losing a lot of personnel and weapons.
"The destruction of the enemy army on Russian territory sometimes occurs with even higher loss rates than in the occupied territories," the expert noted.
He emphasized that the Russians in Kursk region are trying to fulfill the task of liberating territories, while the Ukrainian troops have a different task:
"We do not plan to seize territory, but to destroy the enemy army from any position, at any distance. We must provoke these attacks on ourselves precisely to destroy it. The Russians will have to do this."
