Bashar Al-Assad's Regime Falling Apart In Syria

Putin won't help his ‘ally’.

Bashar al-Assad's regime in Syria, supported for years by Iran and Russia, is falling apart. Surely, the ‘axis of evil’ will try to come to the rescue of a fellow dictator under whom the throne has faltered.

For Moscow, however, Syria is not a priority: it is more concerned about its war in Ukraine. Some resources may be diverted to the Middle East. However, Assad, as well as Ukraine, should not expect Putin to question for even a second his bloodthirsty aims in order to help an ‘ally’.

Iran is another matter. For him, Syria, though not the main, but an extremely important element in his system of regional dominance. Especially now, when Tehran's plan is to restore Hizbullah to the extent possible, and all routes to Lebanon go through Syria. Iran can be expected to try to strengthen its presence ‘on the ground’.

In addition, we must not forget that some of the Turkish-backed rebels who have now victoriously captured Aleppo are real terrorists, close to al-Qaeda and ISIS. Their successes do not bode well for Israel, even if their adversary is a hated executioner with a ‘support group’ in the form of the main enemies of the free world.
