Belarusian Volunteer Receives Medal For Services To Ukraine
ALIAKSANDR MALCHANAU

Aliaksandr Malchanau is one of the political prisoners of the 2010 Square.

The medal for services to Ukraine was awarded to Belarusian volunteer Aliaksandr Malchanau, Belsat reports. The award was presented by the head of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Council Oleksandr Sych.

Aliaksandr Malchanau fought in Ukraine since 2014. He was on the front lines in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. In the first days after the full-scale attack of Russia in 2022, the Belarusian took part in the battles near Kyiv. He defended the airfield in Hostomel, participated in the liberation of Irpin, Bucha, and Makariv.

As part of the 72nd brigade, Malchanau fought near Vuhledar. He was wounded twice, lost an eye. Less than a month ago, he retired.

“I am a disabled war veteran. The Ukrainian government gave me a one-time payment. Thanks to it, I will now buy an apartment. And I receive a good pension. Everything that the state owed me during my service in the army was done on time,” Aliaksandr Malchanau commented on his award to Belsat.

The Belarusian emphasized that he came to serve in the Ukrainian army not as a conscript, but under a contract. “I am very pleased that I was awarded. I am grateful to the Ukrainian government for this,” he added.

Aliaksandr Malchanau is one of the political prisoners of the 2010 Square. In 2017, he was awarded the Medal for Courage for the battles near Avdiivka.
