The Constitutional Court of Romania has annulled the results of the first round of the presidential election. The decision was made during the ongoing early voting in the second round. It cannot be appealed and is final, Radio Liberty's Romanian Service reports.
The winner of the first round of voting was right-wing politician Calin Georgescu. On Wednesday, the intelligence services published documents stating that 25,000 bot accounts on TikTok could have been campaigning in favor of the candidate. The intelligence services link the campaigning to Moscow. Georgescu denies any connection with Russia.
The Romanian Foreign Intelligence Service claims in a declassified document that Romania has become the target of hybrid actions by the Kremlin, including cyberattacks and information leaks.
The first round of the presidential election will be organized anew. The time will be announced separately. The reasoning behind the decision will also be published separately.
