The US has deployed 80,000 of its troops in European NATO member states to deter Russian aggression.
This is stated in a letter from US President Joe Biden to the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the President of the Senate.
The address notes that Washington cooperates with countries around the world to counter terrorism. Particular attention is paid to the areas of responsibility of the US Central and African Commands.
For example, the US continues to provide troops for the International Peacekeeping Force in Kosovo. There are 403 American soldiers there. Also, about 378 servicemen are assigned to the contingent of the Multinational Force and Observers, which has been present in Egypt since 1981.
The US military presence also remains in Iraq, Syria, and the Arabian Peninsula.
As for Israel, the letter says that the US has deployed the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) missile defense system, which is capable of shooting down intercontinental ballistic missiles, among other things.
