Prosecutors are investigating multiple charges.
South Korean President Yoon Seok-yul has been presented with suspicion of treason following multiple complaints.
This was reported by Yonhap News.
“Multiple complaints have been filed, and an investigation is underway in accordance with the process,” said Park Se-hyun, who is heading a special headquarters investigating Yoon's brief declaration of martial law last week.
He added that prosecutors are investigating charges against Yoon of treason and abuse of power.
On December 3, South Korean President Yoon Seok-yul declared martial law in the country. Due to the introduction of this regime, political activity was banned in the country, which provoked a political crisis.
At the same time, martial law in South Korea did not last long. It ended after six hours. Amid widespread condemnation, the president reversed the martial law and even apologized for the decision, but the police launched an investigation against President Yoon Seok-yol.
The matter even reached the point of impeaching the president, but the South Korean parliament failed to vote to impeach President Yoon Seok-yol. This led to a massive protest in South Korea demanding the president's resignation.
