Not only the power, but also the symbols are changing in Syria.
The collapse of dictatorial regimes is often accompanied by a change of old, hated symbols: in Syria, the red-white-and-black flag with three green stars (established after the Baath Party came to power) is replaced by a green-white-and-black flag with three red stars, under which Syria became an independent state.
And although the Baath banner has been used as Syria's national flag for more than 60 years, there is no respect for it at all: they are getting rid of flags, as well as portraits of former presidents and monuments to both - Assad father and son.
One moment, and Bashar al-Assad ends up in Russia and in the dustbin of history.
