Syrian and Turkish media reported the possible death of Ihab Makhlouf, Bashar al-Assad's cousin, while trying to leave Damascus and reach Beirut.

It is reported that the second brother, Eyad Makhlouf, was with Ihab and was injured. However, this information has not yet been officially confirmed.

Ihab Makhlouf is known as one of the largest businessmen close to the regime of Bashar al-Assad.

It should be noted that Bashar al-Assad himself left the country and fled to Russia.
