Who is appointed to Naev’s position?
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky appointed General Yuriy Sodol Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The Command of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is responsible, among other things, for the Belarusian direction.
Lieutenant General Serhiy Nayev, who had previously held this position, was dismissed.

Nayev was engaged in strengthening the defensive lines and positions on the border with Belarus, and repeatedly spoke about the likelihood of a new attack from Belarus.
53-year-old Lieutenant-General Yuriy Sodol previously commanded the Marine Corps. He was awarded the Hero of Ukraine in 2022.
The resignation of Nayev was part of a major personnel change in the leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. On February 8, Zelensky dismissed the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny and appointed Oleksandr Syrsky, who previously headed the Ground Forces, in his place. Instead of Syrsky, the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were headed by Oleksandr Pavliuk.
