The ship suffered a critical breach after being hit by Magura V5 drones.
The Russian Caesar Kunikov warship was attacked by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence in cooperation with other components of the Security and Defence Forces of Ukraine with Magura V5 attack marine drones.
The large landing ship received critical breaches on the left side and began to sink.
This was confirmed by the press service of the MID in the morning of February 14. The YouTube channel of the department released a video of the special operation.
"Caesar Kunikov" was hit in the Black Sea off the coast of temporarily occupied Crimea near the town of Alupka. The successful mission was carried out by special forces of the "Group 13" of the MID of the Ukrainian Defence Ministry.
Volunteers also put their foot to destroying the enemy ship. "The realisation of the special operation became possible with the support of the United24 platform," the press service noted.
The Ukrainian intelligence believes that the occupiers suffered losses in manpower. The agency said that the invaders' search and rescue operation was not successful.
It is symbolic that the Russian officer Caesar Kunikov, after whom the ship was named, was killed exactly 101 years ago - on February 14, 1943.
The MID added that the attacked large landing ship was one of the newest Russian vessels. It could accommodate 87 crew members on board. It was used by Moscow during the wars against Georgia, Syria and Ukraine.
